CINTO STACKING CHAIR EARNS GOOD DESIGN™ AWARD
NEW YORK, February 5, 2007 — Humanscale’s Cinto stacking chair has earned a 2006 GOOD DESIGN™ Award in the Furniture category from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design. The international award program recognizes designers and manufacturers for advancing new and innovative product concepts, and for stretching the envelope beyond what is considered standard product and consumer design.
Spanish for “belt,” Cinto’s novel and patent-pending innovations offer unprecedented ergonomic features and comfort in a moderately priced, environmentally conscious stacking chair. The unique features of the sleek stacker include a backrest that is attached to the chair's frame via a flexible belt, allowing the backrest to move with the body to provide ample recline and automatic lumbar support for the vast majority of users. Cinto’s seat pan features a pattern of surface cutouts that flex independently under the sitting bones to evenly distribute the sitter's weight and reduce pressure points.
Created with the environment in mind, Cinto is 100% recyclable. Molded into the bottom of each Cinto is a phone number that owners may call when their chair reaches the end of its life. The chair will be retrieved by Humanscale and its metal components evaluated for re-use or recycling, while the plastic components will be recycled for use in new Cinto chairs.
