ANOTHER WIN FOR HUMANSCALE'S SWITCH MOUSE
Revolutionary Design Recognized in Japan
NEW YORK, October 16, 2007 — The Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization has recognized Humanscale’s Switch Mouse with a 2007 Good Design Award in its Product Design category. JIDPO’s Good Design Awards is Japan’s only evaluation and award program that recognizes design. Also known as the G-Mark, this top nod draws consumer attention to products that improve lives and advance industrial activity.
Developed by the Humanscale Design Studio, the Switch Mouse is a revolutionary new mousing solution that brings unprecedented ergonomics to computer users. This groundbreaking peripheral device offers two new innovations—a V-shaped base, which minimizes wrist pronation, and a navigation dish that reduces muscle activity while allowing users to scroll in all directions. Additional features on the optical Switch Mouse include a patented size-adjustability feature that offers a custom fit, symmetrical design for left- or right-handed use, a built-in palm support to encourage safe wrist postures, and programmable buttons. The design accommodates natural arm positions, reduces repetitive motion stress, and provides customizable function and comfort for all computer users.
Previously, the Switch Mouse earned top prizes at the NeoCon World’s Trade Fair 2007 in Chicago, including a Gold Award in the 2007 Best of NeoCon competition and a Grand Prize in the Product Innovations Awards presented by Buildings magazine. The Switch Mouse took the top nod for Best Ergonomic Solution at Mixology07, an award program sponsored by U.K.-based mix interiors magazine. The design also picked up a Gold EID award in appliance DESIGN magazine’s 20th Annual Excellence in Design Competition.
